Greetings. Albert Crackleport here. Contributor to the legendary 'Vintafaker blogspot' and 'Oilyracer blogspot', well known in the dales of Yorkshireshireshire for brewing falling down juice made from allotment rhubarb, and pickling huge crunchy onions that make your eyes water just by putting them to your lips. You might have stumbled on this blog by accident, or worse still, you knew it was here and opened the page anyway. Blimey, are you mad?
Anyhow, I'm going to start this blog about my ownership of a Reliant Scimitar SS1. Manufactured in 1985. Bought by me December 2018. Still fitted with the original Ford 1600cc CVH engine and 5 speed box. Let's see what happens as words flow from keyboard to screen...into the unknown...the matrix and beyond. A diary of sorts, good or bad, as it happens... written when the mood releases literary mojo or possibly (and more likely) after consuming a couple of flagons filled with homebrew ale.
I'm nearly a year into ownership at the moment, it's been a frustrating year for sure, but Reliant ownership never is easy and I never expected it to be. Self believe that I could get the better of this Scimitar SS1 in double quick time and it would the most joyous drive I've ever experienced, all within a few months, shows just how easily it is to be diluded when owning an old car made in Tamworth.
I'll back track the last year in the next few posts and try hit some of the blips and pips.
